Team - The Neverending Story

Would you be surprised to learn how many military personnel are drafted into the reserves because of the deep connection between them? This is a story of deep trust, of friends who become family.

They trust each other so much that they are willing to go far together. They help, they help each other, they talk, they take risks, they laugh and they cry - together. This is a strong team!

And just like in the military, you can build a wonderful team at work: a team that works together in harmony, with full trust, mutual responsibility, without accusations and without pretense. A team with open communication that produces excellent products - because the whole can be greater than the sum of its parts.

So why doesn't it always happen?

It all starts with the trust-building phase. This is a phase where the manager - Ron in this case - realized that he had to invest a lot of time and maintain it in a patient and gradual manner.

Trust was built slowly, floor by floor. Over time, Ron realized that you can't jump straight to the penthouse. At first, he didn’t have the patience – then he discovered that he was alone in the penthouse but the people were on other floors. And then he learned. He started with small steps: short personal conversations, real listening, creating a safe space for each team member. Not a psychology course, but human connection. He didn’t try to rush the process, but let trust grow.

Along with the slow building process, he added a monthly meeting with an external mentor to help him build team trust, step by step.

Today, Ron knows that they are on the second floor of the building. They are no longer on the ground floor, but the penthouse is not here yet. There is still a way, more floors to climb, and a lot more joint work ahead of them. But now they know – this path is worth every step. They understood that building a real team is the never-ending story.
